Bio
Are you ready for the third person? Then you’re ready for my bio.
Allison Castillo is a comedian and writer who wrote and hosted the first season of The Love Feed, a web series on YourTango.com. (See, I told you – both!)
She has performed stand up on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, the British production The World Stands Up and Raymann is Laat (a popular weekly Dutch show!) and was a regular on VH1’s Best Week Ever. Named Best Female Stand Up at the Emerging Comics of New York 2004 Awards, she has performed in the Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival in New York and the Latino Laugh Festival in San Antonio, Texas. She was chosen to perform at The Ms. Foundation for Women’s 16th Annual Comedy Hour at Caroline’s on Broadway, hosted by Gloria Steinem and Caroline Hirsch. She is the co-creator and co-host of the long running New York stand up show, Sweet Paprika, which was featured in Back Stage as part of “10 Standout Stand Ups Worth Watching.”
Allison’s one woman show, Who Do You Think You Are?, was selected for the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado and her performance at the festival was profiled on the MTV documentary series True Life: I’m A Comic. The show also played in New York as part of the Toyota Comedy Festival at PS 122. Her next show, Unsolved Miseries, played at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and Joe’s Pub in New York. Both shows were featured at the HBO/Warner TV Workspace in Los Angeles.
Allison’s humor dating book, The Score: The Ultimate Quiz to Test Who He Is, was called “a hilarious send up of the self-help quiz” by Publisher’s Weekly. She has also contributed writing to Cosmo, The New York Post, Jolie magazine, iVillage.com and ElleCanada.com. As a relationship expert, Allison has appeared on CBS 2 Morning News and Dayside on Fox News.
